Back to Red

Around 3 years ago I was tired of buying box dyes to try to get bright red hair because it was just a huge waste of money.  The red never lasted very long, and it was never as bright as I wanted it to be.  Then I went to a salon!  If you can call the mall hair dressers a salon.

Well I will!

Anywhodles $200 later I had the hair I wanted.  Not cheap AT ALL but it did last longer than box dye.  I tried to find a pic from day one but it seems I mostly took pictures much later :/ I think this was before I even blogged when I didn't take pictures of everything.

It took 2 units of red bleach (I think each bleach unit was $80 each) and 2 bottles of Fudge Red Corvette ($20/tube).  I got to keep most of the 2nd bottle of colour for a future touch-up. I didn't have a spare $200 again so this time around I decided I was going to do this myself.  And I saved a buttload.  I've had the bleach and Special Effects dye for a long long time now and only this week I grew some lady balls to do this myself.  I have the week off so if I messed up, I could hide my shame for a few days still!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!  I don't know what I'm doing.
You can try this if you want but I'm telling ya right now, I only learned by watching youtube and remembering what my hairdresser did, I didn't actually learn how to do any of this in school and such. 99% of the time I was just praying I wouldn't go bald.

I bought the Blood Red Special Effects dye from Morgana Cryptoria for $9 I think (it was a very very long time ago, my memory sucks on a good day, don't ask me to think past today!)  Then last summer or fall I bought a 4oz bottle of Salon Care 30 Cream Developer for $2 and 2 packets of Clairol BW2 Powder Lightener for a little over $3 each. I also bought a brush and gloves but that was less that $20 total! Screw you $200.

Now had I gone to the salon she/he would have been able to do my whole head without missing spots.  I totally missed some spots...  But it's okay, mostly just some roots but as long as the wind doesn't blow, I'M COO!

After I bleached my hair and sat with conditioner in it (nothing fancy, just Got2B Hottie) I went to youtube just to see how others got their bright red hair and this video made me feel like a dummy.  She didn't even need to pre-bleach!  I must remember this for the future!  I still have a bottle of Blood Red and a bottle of Nuclear Red so I'll use those 2 up before hunting down this Majicontrast stuff of awesomeness.

So here's my hair in pictures

The start!  My hair was washed the day before. It's all wonky because I had an elastic in it.

BLEACH TIME!  I think when my whole head was covered I kept it in for 30 minutes.
Just chillin with a head full of conditioner.  I believe I left it in a half hour.
 Oh hai blondie
Throw a filter on that pic for a new facebook picture.
I forgot to take a picture of the messy madness that was the red dye but this is it now!  I put a bottle onto clean dry hair and I sat with it in for 1.5 hrs

Outside light!

I was a bit disappointed because at first it reminded me of Raggedy Ann hair.  It's not nearly what I assumed Blood Red would look like.  I think if I had light brown hair and used the Blood Red I probably would have gotten what I wanted but oh well.  YOU LEARN!

:)

Rotten Peaches

Most of these pics today turned out blurtastic but I didn't notice at the time because I was too excited to take pictures of my hair instead!

IT'S SO BRIGHT AND AWESOME DUDES!

But here are my eyeballs for day 1 of insanely awesome bright red hair.

I used the Sleek Paraguaya palette from the Avoir la Peche collection that came out last year.  I think I bought it before I thought they were shitheads and this is my first time using it because, well, they are shitheads.  See?  Being a shithead makes me not wanna use your makeup, so stop being turds Sleek Makeup pls kthx.

Yay 500!!!

I actually managed to hit 500 followers!  Blog-wise!  I didn't go out and beat up 500 people following me around all day.

What do you mean those people were just lined up for the bus?  Eff that, they were totally following me for my trucker mouth and wicked charm.

I've been slowing putting stuff together for a giveaway but, like most times, it could be awhile before I figure it all out.

Procrastinator extreme!  I am the queen of "I'll do it later."  Like this look for instance.  I've been wanting to do a darker red and gold look for awhile now because I love how gold and red look together and I wanted to know what it would look with a lot of darkness in it.  I couldn't find my Bulletproof eyeshadow so I used Femme Fatale cosmetics.  The rest of the colours are all Sugarpill.

I used: UDPP
Lid: Goldilux
Crease and lower lashline: Femme Fatale Spirit Bond
Above crease and under lower lashline: Love +
Above crease for blending: Flamepoint
Browbone and inner corner: Tako
Urban decay liquid liner in Zero (I think)
Rimmel Glam Eyes mascara.

I was using this crappy Rimmel lash accelerator or something and, well, don't use it, it sucks.  It flakes in your eyeballs, doesn't make them grow anyways and just doesn't go on nice.

There you go.  A mini review in an EOTD post.  WIN!

Here's my eyeball some more.

Yerp a bunch of those are the same angles but my bathroom light and living room light kind of change the colour and since I don't photoshop I'm just posting both because I don't know which is more colour accurate :D  Doesn't really matter I guess.  If you have these shades, you already know how badass they are.  Meh.

I DO WHAT I WANT

Like I wanna eat a bologna sandwich right now.

Buh bye.  Some bologna needs eatin's

Detrivore Cosmetics Graveyard Collection Swatches

I am in lurrrrrve.  A year ago if you told me I would have loved neutrals I would have told you where to go.  I was all "BRIGHTAH IS BETTAH!" But when I saw the Graveyard Collection from Detrivore I wanted them.  I own a few neutrals from my Too Faced and Tarte palettes but not much from indie brands.  I prefer indie.  I like that I can buy 3-6 more eyeshadows to 1 MAC shadow.  I like that I actually know who the heck is making my makeup.  I just like it.  But these colours dudes.  I LOVES THEM!

There are a few funky colours in this collection if neutrals aren't your thing (they will be), but it was the mattey goodness combined with all the pretty creamy browns that drew me in.  Lately I've been oogling pin-up makeup looks and I thought this collection would put together a really cute retro pinup look.

The Graveyard Collection consists of 20 matte shades in 5gr jars for $5 each or you can click the "buy all" option and get all 20 for $45 which makes them just $2.25 a jar which is AWESOME!

Some of the browns look similar but not similar enough for me to go through and narrow them down to favourites.  I tried. In the end I just decided I liked and needed them all.

So enough of me blahblahblahing and here are the swatches! As usual clicking makes em BIGGARRRR

Autopsy is actually there (in the browns group) but my skintone makes it almost pull off a disappearing act.  That just means SWEET BROWBONE SHADE!  Some of you may be like "why on Earth do you want a shade that matches your skintone?"

I'll tell ya why.  DARK EYESKIN/UGLY VEIN ACTION!  Even with loads of sleep I somehow got blessed with super dark eye skintones/cirles/etc.

I tried to find a pic that best shows this but this will have to do.

Id rather have this

I need the skintone colour to murder all that eyelid darkness.

I didn't use any of the Graveyard shades for this look but 'twas just an example.

Some people look beauuuuutiful makeup free.

I am not one of those people :D

So now that I kinda got off topic, see any shades you like?

Purple and Grey

The purple in this look is actually pink but it went all secret ninja on me and turned purple somehow which is okay because I used purple liner to be matchy matchy.

I used some of my brand spankin' new Darling Girl shadows.  She had an easter egg hunt and I found one of the bigger sale eggs so I went nuts and picked out the Hunger Games collection and some random others along with some mini jars.  I may swatch them but Mandy did such an awesome job here, my swatches would just look like poop.  I might just do the others I ordered instead.  We'll see. I'd have to get over this lazy thing again.  My brush is washed just waiting for me but me is all like "uuuuuuugh I just wanna play Draw Something and read my silly dragon books" so that's what I've been doing.

This look I did I did a week or 2 ago.

I used:

UDPP
Lid: Well Dressed
Crease: Obviously a Wig
More crease and wet on lower lashline: Survival Instinct
Browbone Chimera
Physicians Formula gel liner for brown eyes

This yellow look was with Darling Girl as well but I didn't take many good pictures of it

The yellow is Chemical Warfare but I can't remember what the crease was.  I think Empire of Dirt.
