Revlon's Whimsical is the less expensive dupe of Deborah Lippmann's Glitter in The Air

I saw the Deborah Lippmann one in Murale but there were no price tags so I passed on it. Then internetland started showing off this super cute shade by Revlon and I had to have it!

It's a bit of a disappointing colour because of it's sheerness but it would layer pretty over pastels. Whimsical has pink and blue disc glitter with holo glitter and irridescent smaller sparkles in a sheer milky blue base.

I swatched it over Sally Hansen's Inta-Dri Whirlwind White and as you can see from my picture, the white is still pretty prevalent even with 3 coats layered on top.

It reminds me of candy. I LIKES IT! The hardest part of this nail polish is telling yourself you kind of have no control over the glitter and let them lay as they will, sparse or not. The first coat gave my pinkie 3, but more coats = more glitter, so keep packing that stuff on :)

And excuse my poor mangled looking cuticles and ragged ass nails. I work in a warehouse and it's not friendly on my hands even with the amount of hand cream I use :(

Meow Cosmetics Friday the 13 Swatches

This post could have been done ages ago but being the lazy ass I am, I just haven't. And peeking at my blog hit search words a few of you are looking for swatches so VOILA! I did em!

I didn't even know Friday the 13th was happening until I saw a Meow update on facebook mentioning the Friday collection appearing again! The code: brokenmirror will get you 13% off this weekend.

Now I'm sure most people would get excited seeing this but not me.

Because I already GOTS DEMZ! :D

The Friday the 13th collection makes a comeback every Halloween and Friday the 13th hence the name! It's the reason I was able to eventually get them all over time and I love them. There are some really pretty duochromes in it including my favourite non-hooker blue, Spell!

Some of the shades act even better on top of Pixie Epoxy so I've swatched a few there also.

Uncomfortable... Zone

Soooooo it seems the new camera takes good product shots but when it comes to aiming this sucker at my eye, not so fun!

I only took 2 shots because I had to run but both those shots kinda blow so this is what I ended up with

I used:
TFSI
Lid and browbone: Geek Chic Kingslayer
Rest of the eye: Wet n Wild Comfort zone palette. I was just going to leave Kingslayer as the main lid shade but that dark brown ended up being crazy dark so I went over the lid with the light brown in the CZ palette.

So basically I just kept packing on more and more shades together until I liked it :D

In other news, I got some more Meow samples (Ice Blossoms and Misfits) but I feel all holiday swatched out. I would like to do them eventually, but then I have to do the Snowflakes and the Glacial Grove and then I'd be all caught up but HOLY CRAP that's a lot of shades. Xmas Trees are done I just have to crop and post but I'm lazy. Lazy and reading. The Fever series. I wants me a Barrons. Nomz...

I also want to do a mega post with all the Egyptian Treasures sometime. I think I have the whole collection with samples and jars combined.

See that!? I went off topic and then so stealthily hopped right back on the topic train. I only hit 30 pedestrians on my way back but SO WORTH IT.

Okie dokie smokies, I've been on holidays the last 2 weeks. This means 2 weeks worth of blogger dashboard to sift through.

The only thing makeup related that happened recently is I made an epic OCC Lip Tar haul. If you've been reading this blog for awhile you know I hate the word "epic" but it's really the only way to describe my moment of insanity of hauling 23 freakin lip tars. They had a sale so they dropped to $10.40/ea from $13 and the cart kept screwing up so I made like 8 carts all weekend (because of the error) and the very last cart I made a half hour before midnight on New Years Eve let me add a bunch before it screwed up to full price again and then I narrowed it down from there. At 23 I didn't do a good job at the narrowing down part but I am SO excited to see what I can create colourwise with these guys!

NEW YEARS RESOLUTION: Buy less makeup

Those lip tars were bought BEFORE midnight so I'm still on target :D

Speaking of which, anyone who does loads of lip swatching, what do you use to wipe the old stuff off to stop your lips from chapping? I can usually only go 3 shades in a row and I might as well have rubbed my face down a brick wall because the end result is fugly. And hurty.

I'm gonna hit up my craft store for empty containers and mix some magic and hopefully 2012 is the year of lip swatches because I have a feeling these things are going to keep me busy. I plan on trying to dupe shades, like the MAC Quite Cute lippies, and since I have the actual lipsticks I can see how far off I really am. SCOREEEEE DUDES! I also wanna try to dupe a certain purple-toned grey lipstick...

I went and snagged Santa Honey as soon as it was released because I knew it would be badass and after swatching the rest I think I would also like Tiffany, Sable, Yacht, Blank Check, and Kisses. Metallic-y goodness :)

Camera Woes

The camera I've used for 6 years is slowly dying. It no longer zooms in past the 4x zoom, and the lens retracting sounds so pathetic I wince when I hear it.

Y U DIE CAMERA?!

I love this thing :( It's just a Canon A540 that came out in 2006. It lets me zoom clearly and gives me awesome detailed pictures. Sure I need to take 20 to get some really good ones, but I do eventually get it.

Last summer I bought a Canon Elph SD1400 IS. The only good thing about this thing is it's pink. Okay and it has this neat "miniature" feature. But I no longer get detailed pictures. It doesn't matter how far I zoom and if I press the macro flower or not, it's just overflashed crap.

LOOK!

Good:

You can clearly see the sparkles in the liners, lower lashes nice and sharp

Then you get this crap

Unfocused lashes, too much light, blurry sparkles, Buttercupcake look freakin orange DAMMIT!
My skin tone in that top one is all wrong. It reminds me of an Andy Warhol painting.

So unless I figure this out, when my old camera finally craps out for good, I don't think I'll be posting anymore pictures. I really hate the way they turn out.

I'm probably just being too picky, but I think it really sucks when a 6 year old camera out-performs a newbie.

It's ballz I say.

My mom and brother own Rebels, maybe they can help me figure out the settings.

I Smell Nice

I don't usually post about stuff I hauled because I don't really get the point except I'm totally going to do it today because I feel like shoving this company in your faces.

The vampire rubber duckie rocks my socks.

I ordered all the newest halloween scents minus Santa Muerte because it was sold out at the time but I ordered in in a more recent order.

I also ordered 4 bottles of oils (Calaveras, Solanum, This is Halloween, Burning Times), all of which I already had/ordered in solid form because

1. I love little bottles
2. Calaveras is one of the greatest scents ever and sure I have in in roller-ball form and solid form, but dropper form also? HELLZ YES I NEED IT.
3. I just felt like it OKAY!? Don't judge me. Eric duckie will eat you.

Also in the order was a jar of Black Magic. Becca made a jar option!! Which is excellent because I'm not too fond of the tubes. It was kind of solid and it was hard prying the last little bit out. Sure I could have just gotten another bar but...JARS DUDE! NEW STUFF! Can't say no to that. If she somehow made it into a spray I would have gotten it.

Oh man would that be hilarious to spray. It would look like a zombie spewing dead stuff on your face.

Calaveras is one of my uber favs but This is Halloween is right up there now in my top 5. I'll list 5 someday when I go through them but right now, my brain says these 2 are totally necessary.

This is Halloween is described as "The very essence of Halloween (for a 10 year old), captured in a bottle (or tube)! Candy Corn, Cinnamon Candies, Fruity Chews, a bite of chocolate, and Marshmallow Treats." To me the only way to explain it is BUCKET OF LIPSMACKERS. Seriously. I tried to find another way to explain it, but my head keeps thinking back to me being 12 again with my boatload of Lip Smackers.
Who would hate a smell that reminds them of a time when personal credit card debt, performance reviews, Glee and Bieber didn't exist?!?

Mirror Witch scent notes are described as "...Reverent gifts of Pomegranates, dried Figs, white Sage, candied Ginger, and a vision of White Musk." To me this smells like really good guy smell. I love it and I've worn it just as much as This is Halloween so far.

Bobbing for Apples is described as "...Fresh apples, Apple skin, Bonfire smoke, Hay bales, and Tonka beans." This reminds me so much of a shampoo I once used but can't remember. It smells SO CLEAN! If for some reason I couldn't bathe for a month, I could slam this on with Fresh Snow and people would be all like "well she looks like a filthy human but she smells clean so it must be a lie" and then I wipe my filthyness on them and run away. That's the correct action yes?

Hungry Ghost is described as "...Steaming-hot Green Tea, lively Lemongrass, and Cardamom, with Peppermint providing a wisp of otherworldly chill." I'm not too fond of this ghosty. I think it's the cardamom and lemongrass which is silly for me to pick out because that's half the scent list right there! But it was one of those "don't knock it til ya try it" afterall, who would have guessed cinnamon+orange equal olfactory heaven. You knew this already? Well whatevz.

Green Lady is described as "...Green Bartlett Pears, a basket of Figs, and an apparition of spectral Musk." This smells like green. Super fresh and green. See THIS is why I don't do perfume reviews. My explanations blow.

Burning Times is described as "...Vanilla, Clove,Patchouli, Pink Peppercorn, a hint of Suede, Red Musk, Sandalwood, Cinnamon, Cedarwood, and the smoldering Embers of a thousand years." This one is a very fall-like scent, deep and spicy, a little incense-y, a lottle awesome-y.

Sugar Skulls is a re-release (rerelease? repromote? ack who knows. werds R hard) from last year but I only had a little 5ml bottle of it that I won last year so I grabbed the solid so I wouldn't have to worry about using uo the little bottle. It is described as "...You'll smell sweet baked goods, vanilla cookies, anise, and roses- all the scents of a stroll through a Mexican neighborhood at that time of year." To me this badboy smells like sweet vanilla licorice. This scent is the lightest of the group on me. I kept catching whiffs of sweetness one day and it was bugging me that I couldn't figure out where it was coming from and then I remembered I smeared this on awhile earlier. Memory of champions right here folks.

Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things is described as "Acorns, Oak, Vanilla, Apples, Roasted Spiced Pumpkin, a bit of Musk and a mound of freshly-dug Dirt." I smell a lot of apple in this one. I'm not too fond of this one because of the apple, yet I loved Bobbing for Apples, so I'm guessing it has to do with it reacting to another scent in that combination of scents. Maybe my brain doesn't like apple + dirt, which sucks, because dirt smell is fantastic. Reading that over I sounded sarcastic but I actually mean that, I love the smell of dirt. And dead leaves.

Final Girl is decribed as "...A crushed corsage of Magnolias and Carnations, the musky Cologne of a maniac, a whiff of oil from a freshly-sharpened Chainsaw blade, and the paralyzing scent of fear." A total chick scent because of the heavy florals. It's soft and girly and makes me think of a lace covered vanity with little trinkets and powder jars all over the place.

Solanum is described as "...Rotting pumpkin, Apple cores, Raspberry, Almond, Madagascar Vanilla, Cardamom, and a hint of Immortelle because zombies never die." The bottle of this has a little zombie on it. SO COOL! This one smells like spicy apples to me, kind of like pie! If zombies smelled like this YOU would be the one biting them.

Calaveras is described as "The bestest damn smell on the planet"
Yeah so I made that up, but that's what it could be. It's described as "Named for the sugar skulls which adorn the Day of the Dead altars, this
fragrance is sweet and spicy. Cinnamon, sugar, orange, and sweetened breads dressed up with a smattering of dried roses on a sandalwood altar."
I've talked about this one before and it's still pretty magical. I think I referred to it having a bug spray-type smell (the one where you spray the room and close the doors to kill everything) but in a TOTALLY GOOD WAY! Otherwise I wouldn't have it in 4 different containers! (Roller-ball, solid, dropper bottle, 5ml bottle) The cinnamon orange combo is strange because you can't really pick out either cinnamon or orange. Combined they turn into a whole different wonderful scent. I have a cinnamon orange shower gel that does the same thing. If you haven't tried it yet, JUST FREAKIN DO IT. If Becca made this into a lotion, shower gel, salad dressing, I would so buy it.

Oh Fudge Lip Butter I looooove how creamy this is. My lips were doing that crappy peely chapped thing where it felt like your own lips were cutting each other when rubbed together so this stuff came to the rescue just in time!

And now it's 1:30am, I guess I should sleep sometime eh? I'LL SLEEP WHEN SOLANUM INFECTS ME. Cuz I'm dead. Get it? heh heh hehhhhhhh.....

I'm not even a neutrals gal but after swatching these last year I fell in makeup love. These shades are exactly what I think of when I picture a holiday makeup collection. Warm, cozy shades. Perfect for glamming up Christmas parties. The only eyeshadow I didn't grab a f/s jar of in this collection was Mirth, the pewter one. My shopping cart was massive and I felt I could survive without Mirth.

Meow Holiday Sugarplums Swatches

I've only swatched the eyeshadows from Meow's Sugarplums collection because I'm not very good at blush swatches. And Ballerina is super light, it would be more of a finishing powder with my skin tone. If you're picking up the shadows, it doesn't hurt to try samples of the blush while you're there. You can grab all 5 in a purple gift bag if you get them this way. You can even buy the whole full size collection using the option on the bottom of their page and save 10%.

Meow Cosmetics Reindeer collection is made up of 9 shades named after those famous 9 antlered dudes driving Santa's sleigh.

The funny thing with this collection is I felt bad if I had just bought 1 deer and not his pal with it, like Dasher & Dancer, Prancer & Vixen etc. So it was great marketing for people who share my mindset :D

The only deer I didn't pick up was Rudolph. And he's THE MOST FAMOUS REINDEER OF ALL! But yeah, just a baggy for him. I have oodles of red and bought so many shades last year I skipped on Rudolph. That took willpower! Without Rudolph it's an incomplete collection!

Seeee, you totally were seeing red sparkles in Elf! And Midnight Kiss is crazy rainbow sparkly. It needs PE though and it HAS to be patted on, or you just get lots o black.

The only 2 shades I didn't grab f/s were Winter Coat and Santa Baby. I had bought these when I first found out about Meow, and wasn't sure if I'd get time to sample before buying and bought a crapton instead.
I think if I had swatched these beforehand I would have grabbed: Frostbite, Meow Mistletoe, Grinch, Elf, Ornament and Midnight Kiss. Possibly Fruitcake.
Vixen is cool for the red glitter but I stil can't figure out how to make white shadow on me look good. Cheers! is a little too sheer for me and Fancy Feline is a little tricky to work with. It kind of blotched out on me. Yep, making words up again...

Meow Holiday Merry Mayhem Swatches

MERRY MAYHEM!

I can see someboddeh is looking for swatches of these from looking at my blog stats, so I'll make it easy for you :)

I think Merry Mayhem first appeared in '08. And they are back for their wintery comeback :)

Also since these were swatched in Canadian autumn, aka dead of winter at 7pm there is no windowlight shot of these dudes. I tried going into different rooms, and finding different lamps to try to get some more sparkle to pop out, but don't think I was very effective. Oh wells, what are ya gonna do? HANG ME?!

Well that's not very nice...

All swatched and patted over UDPP. I keep forgetting to mention that I do pat them on mostly. Swiping loses some sparkle/shimmer and I pat my eyeshadows on my lids, so it just makes sense that I would pat them on my arm.

The Ice Blossoms and Misfits were just released today but I won't have time to order samples and then decide on jars for these (slow ass Canada Post) but I think I'll end up grabbing most of the Ice Blossoms and get 2 of the Misfits if a sale pops up and grab them with the other new stuff I plan on getting later also. SO MANY CHOICES! EEEEP!

errr 11 pains apparently, I only found 11 of the eyeshadows in my stash. The missing shade is Lights Out. I'm guessing that's because it's a navy blue.

Meow Cosmetics 12 Pains of Xmas was released in 2009 I believe, and every December since. I LOVE re-releases!!! It gives me an excuse to swatch this older stuff for you :)

2009 Was when I first ordered from Meow, not knowing they made the collections available again so I had ordered jars of stuff I thought I'd like not ordering samples before hand. Now I know to order samples (they always seem to know exactly when I want to order because a sale will be going on at that moment!) and then there's usually enough time for me to get them, swatch them and decide on jars. Before December ends, there's usually one last sale and that's my chance to go nuts :)

The colours I have are Dirty Snow, Yellow Snow, Tree Fire, Party Crashers, Hangover, In-Laws and Burnt Turkey.

If I had gotten samples beforehand I may have skipped Dirty Snow and In-laws. Maybe. In-laws has tiny blue sparkles that I love so forget what I just said. IN-LAWS STAYS. Otherwise I am happy with my other choices! Tree Fire is pretty cute for an orange!

I've posted this to the side, but I figure it deserves a post because I'm tired of all the spam I've been getting recently. Some people don't mind free shit when all they have to do is post about it, but I do because that's not what this blog is about. I'm not a walking billboard (most of the time :D ) I've only accepted from 2 companies (both makeup related) and I'm sure they're quite annoyed I haven't blogged about them enough because I only blog when I feel like it and only use the products when I feel like it. If I don't feel like talking about something, meh. Not gonna force myself. When you have to force yourself to do something you don't feel like doing, there's no more fun in it, and then I'd rather read a book. (119 now!)

Back to makeup...

This year Meow added "Crop Circle" and a new "Abductee" shade to their Alien Abduction Halloween line.

I'm a total dork and when I saw the email saying sale I grabbed everything I wanted in jar form (yay for already swatching!) and skipped the part in the email mentioning the 2 new/kind of hidden shades. Luckily I was able to add them to my order and I'm so glad I did!

Crop Circle reminds me very much of Urban Decay's Baked shade which is my favourite UD shade EVARRR. I swatched them side by side and Crop Circle is a bit darker and just as pretty. <3 it!

Abductee 2011 is a really pretty taupe shade and it photographs like effing MAGIC! To my eyeballs in this dark livingroom light I didn't see the shimmer this intense, but the flash on my camera popped it out. I didn't even have to blur the picture to make it visible, but I included a blurry pic anyways. Just cuz :)
I think this shade photographs better than any other shade I own. How can you see this and NOT WANT IT? You don't want it? CRAZY PERSON.
Oh that's just me :)

Abductee 2011 is very different than last year's Abductee. Abductee 2010 was a dark purple shimmer with silver sparks.

Persephone All Hallow's Eve

I know I know, It's the middle of freakin November and I'm just swatching a Halloween collection now.

That's how I roll.

The collection is Persephone Minerals All Hallow's Eve and it contains 6 shades:

Pumpkin Head, Dead Ringer, Graveside Manner
Spirit Realm, Devil Doll, Cemetery Dirt

I believe Spirit Realm is now permanent.

Dead Ringer has pink sparkles that didn't show up on camera and Graveside Manner has green sparkles also refusing to show up on camera. If I could chose favourites, Dead Ringer, Graveside Manner, Pumpkin Head and Spirit Realm win kitteh approval.

Here's a look I played around with awhile ago but didn't like. I said the look was balls and my friend said "schweddy balls" hence my title of this post :D

It was supposed to be a cut crease but I accidently blended some of the colour and couldn't fix it. Then I fuckered up the liner so naturally that means ADD MORE LINER! so I did.
And dots.
Dots fix everything.

Sorry for the scary looking eyebrows. I haven't sat down and tried to get rid of all the strays in ages so they're kinda going wonky at the moment.

I tried to organize my crap today but that didn't go so well. 1 Makeup company got sorted and that's about it.

THE BEAST

My collection has grown quite a bit from last summer and it's starting to just get ridiculous. I have 2 orders on their way to me and I think that's it until xmas time but then I'm going to try super hard not to buy anymore makeup other than the essentials. I found shit I don't remember buying! NICE!
BTW my sorting turned into "throw shit into drawer with like-items" I would love to try to blog-sale some of my stuff but Canadian shipping to anywhere is stupid expensive.

When I sorted my Meow stuff I found Abduction and it looked close to the yellowy green I've been hunting for! But it's not quite there yet...

This is Meow's Four Horsemen collection. To me they look more Christmassy and I'm not sure I want any of these in jar form. Maybe Death. Maaaaaybe. Violence looks very close to Malevolence from Pandora's Box. To me it looks like Violence is more maroon and Malevolence is more red. In the pictures you can't really tell. I don't think you'd need both though.

My tube of primer is getting good use this weekend!

I've swatched Meow's Pandora's Box collection. They came out right before the Halloween releases. From the online swatches they looked too dark for me but I did still manage to find a bunch I wanted after swatching them.

What got me super excited about this collection is I had just finished reading the Lords of the Underworld books before this collection got released and the story is about these immortal warriors who were pissed off that Pandora (a WOMAN OH NOES AND SUCH!)was chosen to guard the box, so they opened it and as punishment for letting the demons out, they were forced to house one of the demons as they got caught. You try living with the demon of Lies and everything you spoke was a lie or else you would feel extreme pain! Actually I liked his demon the best.

So yeah, seeing a Pandora's Box collection, NICE! Not the same demons as the books, just a wicked awesome coinkydink.

From looking at the bags I thought I was going to pass on Head Shot and Post Mortem but nooooope. Too pretty to pass up, Post Mortem was more crazy sparkly than I thought it was going to be. Rising actually has a crazy pink sheen going on with it but my pictures don't show it much. The 3 I'll skip are Reincarnation, Post Apocalyptic and Quarantine. I didn't find those 2 greens to be unique enough and I have a load of dark greens already. I'm skipping the pink just cuz I'm not a huge pink shadow fan. Well this shade of pink anyway. I don't know, medium pink? Whatever, kitteh does not want.

Zombie Unicorns however... Kitteh wants muchly.

Hi!

I'm pretty bummed out right now. I broke my favourite toy.

LOOK AT THAT CRAP!

I'm not usually hard on my stuff, actual books I don't bend spines, have clean hands, no food around them, but I swear the Kindle is a floor magnet. I drop it all the time by accident or it'll slip off my lap.

My very 2nd day of having this thing, I was in the bus stop, my phone rang and I didn't know if you answer the phone the iPod stops so I was rushing to unplug the headphones and I knocked the Kindle off my lap onto the dirty ass bus shelter concrete. DAY 2! It popped open in a few places and got a lovely scratch on the side.

But that's not how I did this mess. NUH UH.

I was leaving for work and shoved 2 cans of pop into my backpack, stuck the Kindle in one of the front pockets and set it on the counter, and went to see if there was anything else in the fridge worth munching and then BAMMMO. The cans weighed the bag down right off the EFFING COUNTER, landing right on the screen. It just wouldn't unfreeze. At first I could see the bottom bit of the screen but as I tried to fix it (ahem slap it around a lil) it got worse and worse and now I can't tell if it's on or not.

RIP lil dude. We had a good 6 months and 101.5.5.5 books (teehee half finished books :)

I ordered another one, the new tiny one because it was cheaper and if I decide to slam it on bus shelter floors or throw cans on it again, might as well go cheap-ish.

Now that I've got you good and bored, ON TO MAKEUP!

I LOVE the green in this look here and I dug around to see if I had something similar and found my Meow Carnival collection. Cirque du Meow looked close so I teamed it up with Freakshow and a-la-ga-zam. I also loved this look here by Rachel so I decided that's how I wanted to wear it.

In the end my look looks like complete shite next to those 2 and my camera blurred 2 of the pictures hahaha, I WIN! At sucking that is.

What a lazy day today. Every weekend is lazy because I just don't feel like going anywhere. This city bores the crap out of me. Whoopdedoo new hockey team. Pass. Oh Sleek, You Anger Me Greatly

So long ago if you remember I had my "do not want Sleek Makeup because they totally screwed up when trying to do a customer appreciation sale" phase (I linked Ana cuz she does rants like a pro and has more info).

Then I decided to give them a chance and placed a big order. It was packaged nicely and everything came intact.

Fast-forward to now and I'm not very pleased anymore.

I'm trying to cut back on all the crap I buy so I decided I wanted two inexpensive palettes from Sleek Makeup. They came out with a Nude Collection and the PPQ Me, Myself and Eye palettes and I thought, "Oh goody! They're only $10.50!" I even asked my dude if I could order them, which I never do because if he says no I'm still going to buy stuff anyways, but I thought I'd be nice and make him feel included on my decision making :D

Shipping was $13.50, which sounds high but it was coming from overseas so I'm not going to complain about that.

What I am going to complain about is CRAPPY EFFING PACKAGE MARKING!

When you ship products to another country, the value of the package
IS THE FUCKING PRODUCT THE PERSON BUYS.

NOT THE SHIPPING!

SHIPPING IS NOT A VALUE!

CAN I MAKE THIS ANYMORE CLEAR?!??!??

So lucky me, Sleek marks my package as having a value of $34.50 USD.

Uhhhh no.

Fuck that. 2 palettes = $21 kthx

So why does this piss me off? Because the lovely customs people just LOVE grabbing packages and thanks to the price screw up I ended up paying TAXES ON SHIPPING! And of course good ol currency conversion is in action here also (which is why you see $35.67 not $34.50 on customs page)

According to Canada Post, orders over $20 can get held on to for taxing. My order would have been $21 had it been marked correct, over the threshhold by a buck, but I doubt they would have been that douchetastic to still tax my package for a dollar overrage. Who knows. What I do know is I'm pissed for paying tax on shipping! Growl.

In the end these cheap $10.50 palettes ended up costing me $25 EACH!

But the extra ooey gooey buttercream icing on the rantcake is they sent the palettes in a bubble mailer instead of a box like last time so...

VOILA!

I've emailed Sleek Friday telling them why I was upset and have still not heard anything back from them.

MAC Lightscapade

At first I was all YAY LIGHTSCAPADE FINALLY! I've been seeing this MSF all over the interwebz and was so upset I missed out on this colourful beast.

I walked to my MAC store in the mall to check out their newest releases and to pick up Blue Candy when LO AND BEHOLD! LIGHTSCAPADE WAS THERE! The tester looked so pretty and I know I'm too dark to pull it off but knowing how many people go rabid for this, I felt like I'd be breaking some makeup rule to just walk on by and ignore it's prettiness.

I believe I got the first one in the store because none of the plastic wrap was taken off the stack in the cupboard but 1st doesn't mean the best because at first glance, it looked like crap.

I pulled it out of the bag when I got home and could have cried. I paid $33.50 for a rainbow in a pot and got:

PALE PALE EFFING SWEARWORDS PALE!

I honestly thought someone ran their finger through it, blending the shades together and ruining the initial veining when I remembered she opened a new pack for me right in front of me.

But all hope was not lost, just because it wasn't as asthetically pleasing as it's past interweb friends' pics, it wasn't a total loss.

Meow Cosmetics has just released their Halloween collections so that means the return of past awesome collections and the introduction of THREE NEW ONES!!

Alien Abduction: Radiation Glow Powder. THIS STUFF ROCKS! Wear it on top your blush and you get a pretty nifty sweet greenish glow. It comes in a 10gr jar so you can get your blush brush right on in there.

Dance of Death: Asylum (intense sparkly teal), Cadaver (GREEN OF SPOOKY AWESOME), Spellbinding (one of the prettiest, rainbow sparkliest hilights I own) and the best for last, out of like EVERYTHANG COFFIN EYELINER!
COFFIN COFFIN COFFIN. Just get a sample if you're not sure, but I promise you IT'S THE GREATEST, BEST LOOSE EYELINER ON THE PLANET. And if you don't think so, well. I'll just have to send my rabid penguins after you.

Friday the 13th: Spell (one of the few blues that don't look hooker-blue on me thanks to that awesome greeny sheen on top), Accident (looks innocent in the pot but goes on dark with crazy red action happening)

Halloween Zombies: Skelecat (I really can't say no to anything with that green sheen...), Full Moon (I think I have 2 or 3 of these now. Iridescenty goodness)

And there are also their Frightening Foundations and Indelible Paints pages. I never do anything for Halloween that includes getting mah face on, so I have nothing from these pages, so no personal experience gooders to point out. Hah. Gooders.

I titled it part one because there is so much available on that site it's gonna take me awhile to go through the products.

Cocoa Pink is a bath and body products webstore.
They have various shampoos, conditioners, perfumes, lotions, scrubs and a crazy variety of scents to choose from.

Having a closet full of bath and body stuff I usually skip past these kind of sites unless something can pull me in. What better thing to suck me in than HALLOWEEN SCHUTFF!

HOW COULD I RESIST!

I almost didn't get the set because of the international shipping rates, but my friend asked in the forum about that and she was told I'd get the difference back. So yay!! No jacking the prices! And I did get the difference back into my paypal account.

Coimetrophobia AKA Fear Of Cemeteries decided to not play nice and leaked a bit on his friends, but there was still plenty left in the bottle, so nothing to be upset about. Stuff happens, and those little atomizers are bound to leak sometimes. It's still good yo!

They were all completely full like the 4th bottle looks like (I used most of them before taking this shot) with the exception of that trouble maker Cemetery, but you can see there is still plenty left, it didn't reach the label level.

There was a free (really nice sized!) sample of the Pumpkin Fried Ice Cream Body Butter included in the order but I brought it to work and have been using it all week so no picture :( I smell so good there I wanna eat my arms but they tend to frown on self cannibalism.

One product on the website I'm most excited to try out is their Ends With Benefits hair & body fragrance mist. HAIR PERFUME!!

What makes this stuff better for your hair than actually spraying it with perfume is that perfumes contain alcohol and dry your hair out. Ends With Benefits doesn't contain alcohol so it will leave you with pretty smelling hairs without murdering your poor folicles. Actually not sure it would effect the folicle, that part being in your scalp and all but you know what I mean Dr Scientist.
Oh and they're vegan for those who wanna know. NOW YA KNOW!

The sprays come in 2 different sizes, 1oz for $6.50 and 2 oz for $8.99.

I totally took advantage and picked up a few of the Ends With Benefits sprays in Fear of Cemeteries, Fear of Halloween (which smells like awesome froot loops), Pumpkin Fried Ice cream (the free sample of the body butter made me fall in lurve with this scent) and Fairytale. Grabbed the last one on a whim. Yeah I'm one of those suckers who buy stuff for their names but check out it's scent description!:

One day I will get these as well, but I want to make sure I get a smell I won't get sick of so I made sure to order 2 5ml 6pack atomizers to try to find my mega winner.

This seems like the best way to samples all the difference scent options they have.

These I did back in July but once again, procrastinator extraordinaire RIGHT HEEEEERE, so nothing got posted, just shot and cropped.

They aren't as wicked clean looking as my last post's swatches are because I was still trying to decide how my swatches should look. Some days I like my little circles because I pat them on like I would my eyelid but they're small, and sometimes I like the lines because they can show more colour but it can waste more eyeshadow.

I did these the same day as my Sleek O so Spechul and Caribbean palettes (and they were lil patted circles) so that's why this post was held off so long. I was being too productive, and that's never good. It gives false hope that I will update more often...

Super duper kick ass earrings in 5...4...3...2...1

ROBOT SPERM!

No, not really.

If they look familiar you may recognize them from True Blood! We just finished season 3 and when I saw the earrings from the show I thought they looked so awesome, and amazingly the dude agreed and he surprised me with them for my birthday yesterday!!!

They are from Tiffany & Co. called the Elsa Peretti Teardrop earrings.

Their picture shows the point to be more blunted than in real life. In real life these bitches drew BLOOD YO! Holy frig you have to really squish your ear in just the right way and fiddle for like 5 minutes. But in the end, LOOK AT THE BLING!
WORTH IT!

I had them on backwards and had the joy of taking them out and squishing them back on again. It's even harder when you put them the direction they're meant to go :D

I don't plan on taking them out for a long time anyways. My right hole started to heal because nothing was worn in my ears for so long because those cheapy earrings from Claire's tend to irritate my ears. So far since wearing these the only problem I had (other than initial freakin blood loss) was getting my towel stuck to my head.

Oh that was fun. I felt real special just then.

I also snagged Urban Decay's BOS 4 as a bday present to me.

HAH Who am I kidding, I would have bought the thing even if they released it 3 months ago.

The mall trip was to get more primer because the $30+ tube of UDPP DRIED OUT! And yeah, palette was impulse buy. YAY! At this rate the CC will be paid off XMAS '13...

BOOK I'M READING RITE NAOWWW

1 more bit of news. Check your Kindle cords peeps.

Not even 5 months old and the cord is splitting. I went to Amazon to see how much it would be to order a new cord and noticed it had twice as many 1-star ratings than 5-star and it was mostly for the problem I had.
I emailed Amazon and they had to send a $10 credit to the account to place and order, and when the order ships, I email them again with the info so they reimburse me for the shipping charge.

PAIN IN THE ASS.

If someone pays $180 for something, parts of it should not be failing in less than 5 months. And with the amount of complaints, a better cord should be included, instead of the cheap one they send out instead. Yes I'm getting a new cord, but it still irks me so many people have this problem, and just a quick look at the reviews, it's been happening for awhile. Just keep an eye on your cords, and don't be surprised when teeny wires start popping out :(

This is the only look I've done in awhile, I've been reading again! Well, still I guess. Working on the Merry Gentry series, read all of Immortals After Dark (OMG I LOVE THEMZ! Covers are kinda goofy until you hit book 4. Actually 4 and 5's covers kinda suck also, skip to looking at book 6! :D) Read all the current Alien Huntress novels including the newest one I preordered. I'm eagerly waiting for this book to hurry up and be released. I think I tried to preorder that one 3 times because I couldn't remember if I did it already or not. IT'S STRIDER'S STORY! Yeahhh you probably don't know what I'm talking about. Stalk these books down and read em!

Long time no posty, had my face break out very bad and it pretty much killed my blogging mood. It's still really bad so while I try to murder my zits lemmie tell you about an awesome site that was brought to my attention!

APOTHICA!

Apothica is a webstore that has so many beauty products you could be browsing for hours.

It also shares a cart with Skin Care RX and Skinbotanica. The top right hand corner is where you'll find your cart, keeping track of your order.

Also really nifty, you can log in and see your previous orders! Awesome feature if you're a shopping junkie/hoarder/COLLECTOR(least negative way of putting it :D ) like me and can't remember if you bought something already.

Apothica sells Too Faced! so you can get your primer needs right here baby.

The site is more buyer friendly to US customers though. The parcel is sent Fed Ex with tracking, so it's a tad pricey, but the package won't get lost. Also customs could snag the package and plop on the all wonderful tax/handling charge as well. For some reason Fed Ex felt $10 handling was appropriate, so in the end it was another $19 >:[ LOVE IT

The package also had many free samples to play with, which is always awesome :)

Apothica had sent me a $50 GC so I picked out 2 Too Faced palettes to use the whole amount and then some :) I haven't gotten around to swatching/wearing any of the palettes yet, but as soon as I'm out of my funk I'll be using these a lot.

Buttercupcake. It's Magical

One of my most favourite eyeshadows on the planet is Sugarpill's Buttercupcake. Yellow eyeshadows are pretty sweet because they are bright, not many people will wear them, and they look pretty damn awesome on BROWN EYES!! Well my brown eyes anyways.

But my favourite way to wear it isn't just slapping it on the lid (although I do do that too) DO DO!!, but as a crease and/or lower lashline shade. It's even better blended on top of a dark shadow. It makes it look kind of dirty/muddy and all kinds of awesome.

So here are just a bunch of my eyeballs with Buttercupcake on them. The last one doesn't have it in or above the crease (used Dollipop, but it's on the lower lashline instead) but my mister actually said "That's pretty nifty makeup" which is mister-speak for "pretty makeup" because otherwise he doesn't say anything, so it gets included!

Soooo yeah. Start blending that monster with dark shadows and see what magic you come up with :)

Swatch TYME U GUISE!

I bought this Curacao palette with the other dudes awhile back and swatched it but got too lazy to post it.

My main reason for buying it was the yellow and and red in it. Can't go wrong for $10ish to get a sweet red and yellow yo!

I believe I was drooling after this collection after seeing Temptalia post promo images and even though the colours looked kinda blah, the packaging suckered me in.

Yep, I'm one of those people. Pretty packaging means YES PLEASE!
It could also do with my recent vamp/immortal obsession

Either way I wanted it, and I wanted it all.

My Sephora didn't have anything in the store yet so I had to buy it all online. I don't really like shopping at Sephora because the prices are jacked up when you click your cart to Canadian $$$ but it was the only place I could get these pretties from.

The prices go from:

$52 palette
$30 cheek stain
$24 lip tint
Total: $106

to:
$68 palette
$39 cheek stain
$31 lip tint
New total: $138

The only benefit, is it arrived in a duty free box, but even if they taxed me etc, it's still mucho more than it should be with the current currency conversion. I would prefer they use paypal checkout and let them do the exchange, but then the stores would be off, chaos would erupt, buildings would explode, cats would start bowling with dog's heads etc., bad times all around.

I did them in 2 groups, light and dark and the pics where you see text, blow them up to read the shades better. Actually you can blow them all up if ya want, I didn't shrink anything, I don't think anyways.

My bitch-take on the shades provided, I do wish they skipped one of the blacks, probably the sparkly Immortal because it's just Legend, but with sparkle. Silver sparkle at that. And I hate silver sparkle. Just looks like white specs. BOR-ING.

Maybe a sweet metallic gold in the same wicked finish as The True Death (silver) or a blood red shade. Sure "V" rocks, but a deeper bloodier red would have been pretty schweeeet.

I haven't used the primer or mascara but I did try out the eyeliner. I liked it for about 5 seconds, then realized it was way too soft and then as soon as that happened of course a damn chunk crumbled off and landed somewhere. I'm going to have a black spot squished in my couch or carpet soon. I knowz it.

I've never used a blush that wasn't powder so this was a new to me type of thang.

I really like the colour and the gold sparkles but I have yet to try to wear it on my face. Once I figure that out I think it'll look pretty! Gold sparkles are pretty much awesome all the time.

And for my least fav of the bunch, the Lip Surgence pencil.

I don't like the mint smell, wasn't a fan of the colour either. I expected it to be more blood red. Or at least something similar to Clinique's Black Honey. Sheer but awesome, but I didn't find the shade awesome.

Anyways am I glad I bought this collection? HELLZ YEAH SON!

If I knew the lip pencil was going to suck, I wouldn't have gotten it though. I don't even mind the eyeliner breaking on me because I completely forgot the palette came with those extras so it was a pleasant surprise.

Affordable? Fuck no, not really, but that's why some dude invented a credit card. I really hate that dude some days. Interest blows.

Although 16 shades for $68 is $4.25 a colour (I totally count Legend and Immortal as 1 colour, cuz that's how I roll) is a good deal.

Meh, tis up to you I guess. I'd buy it again. IT'S AWESOME.

Sleek Oh So Special

I'm back! HOLY FRIG! 4 posts in less than 24 hrs. Can you tell I got bored in the middle of my book? Seeing the pile of schtuff I have I feel the intense need to swatch the crap out of it, so I'm half done my mission. That True Blood palette has 17 shades and the Geek Chic is 22 shades I think so I'm far from done, but the brush is out drying again to prepare itself for it's next job.

I have for you the Sleek Oh So Special palette. Or "O So Spechul" palette as I am renaming it to my liking. The Curacao palette is gonna be called, "My Brightass Palette".

The cover was just plain black, I'm thinking this may be a permanent palette, I couldn't see "limited edition" or anything on the box.

While I do love that each shade has a name, I don't like that it's just on a flimsy plastic film, I would have liked it on a sticker on the back of the case or something. I'm probably going to destroy the film accidentally.

Whatever, twas only $10.50 (although at the moment they seemed to have upped the price to $12.60...), can't complain too much, the colours friggin rock!

The palette has mattes and shimmers and they are so pretty! Even though they aren't bright shadows, I still love them and am happy I decided to get this palette. They are very pigmented, even the mattes. Actually I think the mattes were more pigmented than the shimmers even.

Sleek Makeup

Awhile ago Sleek had a huge sale fail and I was one of those people who spent 2 hrs trying to place an order and then gave up. They offered some dealio for a half off coupon, to try to make it up to some people, but you had to have been logged into your account. The site froze up so many times I wasn't able to log in and therefore never saw a discount code. And for that I had a mini boycott and said Sleek could suck it.

Then they came out with the Avoir la Peche collection. But I'm all NO YOU DON'T, YOU CAN'T GET ME! So I missed out on it.

Then they had to be bastard people and dream up this Caribbean collection... there was a yellow in it.. and a red.. that pretty much made my mind up right there. I needed it. And oh look, a matching lip thing! And I have to have the blush if I'm already getting the other too *shopping addict denial kick in nnnnnooowwww*

So I made sure to be logged in this time and placed an order for the whole Caribbean collection, the Oh So Special palette, Santorini and Rose Gold blushes and the Monte Carlo Pout Polish from the Mediterranean collection. I got a free mini lip shine.

Of all my packages, this one that came all the way from Great Britian, took only TEN FREAKIN BUSINESS DAYS! When I picked the box up from the post office I thought for sure it was something else, and that this order would arrive in a few weeks still but NOPE! That's ninja fast.

And it was also packed very well. The palettes and blushes were in a little white box within the main mailer box surrounded by bubble wrap for added protection. I was quite impressed by the care, and the speedymagooedness of delivery.

Shipping seemed a bit high @ $13.50 but they used one of those printed post labels so I have no idea what it actually cost them to send. It was sent to another continent so I wouldn't be surprised if it did cost this much to send. Being that it was $13.50 I had to make it "worth it" and that's also part of the reason I bought so much. The Acid palette was looking me in the face but sadly U NO CAN HAZ!

It says: Please note : Due to FDA regulations this palette cannot be sold in the US. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

I R not in America-land so I was hoping to be exempt, but the add to cart button never showed up when I logged in again.
I'll use my mad sleuthing skillz on ebay.

So my read-a-thon continues. Hence the lack of updates still. 53 books down in 3 months. If I spent all this time reading educational stuff I think I would probably a ninja robot unicorn computer by now.

This time tharrr be ALEINS! I'm reading the Alien Huntress series by Gena Showalter. I finished the 1st 2 and there are 2 Y/A books written in the series in the middle of the adult books, so I'm on book 1 of that, very short, started it today and I'm at 57%.

So you can see how much Slime and Snails pretty much rocks my Spongebob socks, but I did find a downside. The blue glitter! I love glitter and the FPE did a good job of keeping most of it on my eyelid and it looked cool but the couple of flyaway ones that got into my eye, I felt those SOB's. I thought it was the lashes, but once I got the glitter out, the annoyance went away.

Hey, so I saw Britney Spears

In concert! I'm hardcurr like that. I don't really have a musical preference, or something I tend to lean towards. My favourite band is Mindless Self Indulgence and I don't even know what the hell to classify them by. So why did I decide to go see Britney Spears?

Oh I dunno, cuz I freakin loved her when I was 14! Now I can say, yep I saw her live and got to scream like a little teeny bopper (so hard not to when everyone else is doing it, ADMIT IT YOU totally would have too :)

This was on Monday, after work so I only had 30 minutes to slap my face on so the blending is choppy and then I forgot to turn my bedroom light on for pics, so the colours look a bit washed out. If you have any Sugarpill cosmetics, you know those badboys are not dull, so it's all my camera's fault for making them not look BAM IN YO FACE, cuz it was. I swears it.

She pulled a guy from the audience, handcuffed him to a chair, and 2 girls and a guy damn near lapdanced him, then Britney tossed a pink feather boa on him and hopped on his shoulders. It was pretty awesome :)

So here's the extent of my creativity this month. A whole lotta nuthin'. I skipped liner some days, skipped crease colours, I just was not feeling it. Not like I have some super makeup magical makeup mojo going on most days anyways, but I preferred to read my sluttay vampire books instead so I dragged my sleepy arse out of bed and most times I didn't have time to play.

That and the heat is KILLER here, so the makeup is going to melt off my face in the time it takes me to walk to the bus stop. I'm getting farmers tan. I hate tans. This displeases me greatly. Today the heat hit 34 Celsius with the humidex making it 46 degrees. Google land tells me this is 114.8 Fahrenheit. (How sad is that, that I know how to spell "fahrenheit" only because there's an eyeshadow called that?) Sooooo yeah, it's like getting hugged in a wet blanket that just got pulled out of the microwave. GOOD TIMES!

So enough blah blah blah-ing, here are my sad makeup days:

I'll start with a not-bad one, and it's one I did something close to before. It's good if you don't feel like taking a chance, just find a look you did already and loved and do it again.
Just to not repeat myself, I always used UDPP. I have the pro size massive squeeze tube and I shouldn't have bothered buying it. It's getting thick already. I should bitch about it in it's own post one day, but can't remember when I bought the sucker so I'll probably just get blamed for not using it faster. Cuz you know, only 2 eyes and all that junk...
Also, not many pics of all the looks. The batteries are dying and I'm just milking the last bit of juice. It usually runs out before I can get all 4 angles non-fuzzy.

And on my eyeballs. I just wore Burberry Trench and black eyeliner. I also failed at getting my foundation/concealer up to my lower lashline. HI REDNESS! You suck.

Next up I used MAC Old Gold and a Teal Joe Fresh felt liner eyeliner pen. I think I skipped the crease or used Aromaleigh's Expecto Patronum. Can't rememberith.

And here's something neutral lookin'. Not sure what I used at all so consider it, ummm, neutral inspiration? Or just boring. Boring works.

Oh hi there! I haven't updated sine the 11th because I've been a slave to the Kindle again. I'm pretty sure it's made of crack.

Since the middle of April I've read around 40 books. FORTY EFFING BOOKS! I'm hooked. It's kind of sad. I read until I'm sleepy and cranky and have to be up in 6 hrs, and then wake up, hear the dude in the shower, roll over and grab the Kindle.

I'm a real winner.

Nothing I'm reading is actually brain food, just a bunch of slutty vampire/supernatural stories.
Just in case anyboddeh is wonderin'...

BOOKS SERIES CAUGHT UP ON! (just waiting on new releases now):

Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost (the evil lady who got me hooked to slutty vampire books, or "paranormal romance" but that sounds icky, so slutty it is!) Main chickie Cat is half Vampire and she's pretty ass-kicking fantastic. There are currently 2 spin off books from the series but I don't think they are meant to be their own series. Just a 1 book kind of dealio.

The Hollows series by Kim Harrison (Witches, Vampires, Pixies <3!) Main character is Rachel Morgan, a witch detective who works with a Vampire lady Ivy- who I'm crazy in <3 with and I don't even swing that way - and a pixie dude Jenx. I read these right after reading the Hunger Games when I thought all books were now ruined because I loved those 3 so much, but NOPE! The Hollows series got me addicted so I googled more supernatural series and founnnnnnd>>

Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward (it took me longer to get into the storyline but then I got hooked. CHEEEEEESE but in a hilarious way that kept me reading) A bunch of hugemongous Vampires fighting off lessers while hookin up with ze ladies. My favourite character is Qhuinn. 2 coloured eyes, dark hair, pierced and sluttastic. WIN!

Lords of the Underworld by Gena Showalter. Not vampire-centric but ancient Greek warriors possesed by demons like Disease and Defeat. There are also Angels, Harpies, Gods and Goddesses of course. My favourite characters are Anya (Minor goddess of Anarchy) and Strider keeper of Defeat (who can't lose a challenge without crazy pain, who knows he's made of awesome, and I'm pretty awesome so in fantasy book land WE'D be pretty made of awesome TOOOOGEDDER :) hahaha nerd. I can't wait until his book gets released. You can get the 1st 4 books in a bundle for dirt cheap here

Fallen Angels series by J.R. Ward. So far there are only 2 stories. I pre-ordered the 3rd but didn't realize it wasn't to be released until September still. SO FAR AWAY! I didn't like these as much as the BDB series so far but now that I read the 1st 2, I have to keep going.

Out of all of those the Hollows series is my favourite. I like all the different types of creatures in it.

Next up I think I'm going to tackle the Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole. I found that series when I bought the Lords of the Underworld companion guide thingy. There's a Q&A with the authors in it. Orrrr maybe read Gena's Atlantis series.

Anyone else read paranormal *gag* romance *gag* novels and can suggest something? Nothing very werewolfy though. I shouldn't be buying stuff but I ended up grabing that one along with a Bulletproof pressed and Tipsy and Absinthe Chromalusts. I needed more greens and now I'll have all the pressed shadows. SCORE MANG!

So with Sugarpill on the mind and the pretty kick ass rainbow eye done by Ms Snarky Princess here I wanted to try some funky liner. It's not as wicked awesome as Snarky's liner, I got afearded I would eff it up playing too much. So here's my first try winging out the inner corner.

Yesterday I got my bignormous Persephone Minerals order where I ordered the last 3 sailor scouts collections and then a bunch of others (I'm thinking 14 maybe kinda?) so it was a sweet mail day. Ever since I saw the Hunger Games Entertainment Weekly preview on twitter I was all I NEED THAT MAGAZINE!
You see, we have a years subscription to Entertainment Weekly. And for like 2 months they've been sending renew notices. Like once a week. It's annoying really. One even said "ARGGGG!" because it was for Pirates of the Caribbean. So knowing this magazine is coming out, we decide to wait a few days to see if it's coming in the mail, or if the last issue already came. Then my mister walks into a 7/11 and sees the week before's issue so we're not sure if it's out yet. We wait a few more days and all of a sudden this week's issue is out. It's like they just skipped past the Hunger Games issue.

Well isn't that a kick to the box.

So I'm all boohoo-y because I really wanted to read it, see if it has any movie info and I <3 Jennifer Lawrence ever since seeing Winter's Bone in that cold ass lil theatre downtown.

Then yesterday I open that mail box and BAMMO! MAGAZINE (a week late) PERSEPHONE ORDER, OHTWO PERFUME!

It was a very good mail day.

With this look I felt very overdone and fuggers in. I don't know what it is with me and false lashes. I love them, I love how they look but I feel so freakin ugly with them on most of the time. After I hopped in the elevator I realized I forgot to use eyeliner on top to kind of fuse them with my lash line. It sucks feeling a look isn't done yet! Whooops

Still using my BFF Buttercupcake and I used some Fyrinnae also.

I made the mistake of gluing the lashes too close to the lashline in the inner corners so everytime I blinked I wanted to rip them out of my face. It's just that I don't like having them too high or you see where the band strays away from the natural line and it's a pain in the ass to cover.

Or I just actually suck ass in reality and need more practice...

That's probably it.

Back to book number 4 of this terrible series. We'll just pretend it's Twilight for now. Not that I would have those taint my Kindle baby.

After 5 days of my makeup fast I felt the need to go VIVID! My eye has unzombified so I took a risk and will be soaking my brushes asap. I figure if ruin my Sugarpill palletes, OH DARN I GOTTA GO SHOPPING AGAIN!

Keeping with my dirty shadow combo (green and yellow done already) I realized why I love using Buttercupcake blended with a darker shade! It kind of resembles a healing bruise. Now that may not sound appealing to some, but I think it's damn awesome.

From far away this look is pretty sweet but my blending close up kind of sucked. I hopped in the shower early because I had a plan in mind so I get out, do aftershower junk and sit down to do my makeup. My phone tells me I have enough time.

*oh no it's story time again*

I sit in the livingroom and do my makeup with a morning news show on, but I use it as my time keeper because they have a live clock. So after I put on Dollipop and Poison Plum and Willow, I'm trying to blend Buttercupcake, struggling because Willow didn't want to behave and I check my time. It was going goodish still but I still had to do liner, browbone, lower liner x2 and mascara. And get dressed!

So because I feel time is dwindling I peek at the tv and it tells me I have TEN MORE DAMN MINUTES! I was only half done! What the crap! I was tempted to skip liner but using a pink shadow, NOT GOOD TO SKIP LINER! So I found a liner, used a brush, curled lashes and plopped on mascara and had 3 minutes left. I still had to change clothes, and get my stuff together.

I do not like being behind, especially if I have to take the bus. If I miss that sucker, I have to wait and get to work 15 minutes late. No time to read my raunchy vampire books :D

So I run my ass off, make sure I have my iphone, headphones, Kindle, lunch bag, bus tickets, swipe card, house keys and a diet pepsi (the essentials!) and the TV clock says I'm 2 minutes behind of schedule. THIS CAN'T HAPPEN! So I'm running down the hall and I'm kind of obsessed with time so out of habit I light my phone up at the elevators and it's telling me it's 7:12, not 7:22.

Ummmm huh? Thinking my phone was slow, but not wanting to wait at the stop longer than I have to I run back to the apartment and once again, that TV says it's 10 minutes later than my phone.

Now I don't know what to trust! LAPTOP! You good ol friend, I log it on, and my phone was right. All this time and I actually still had 10 minutes to go.

Thanks Breakfast Television. You really screwed with my day and made me bore people by taking it out on cyberspace. Geeze. I'm blaming my blending fail on the time screw up, but I probably would have effed it up had I had 6 hrs. I'm cool like that.

Chick Pea Salad

Nope, that's not a funky name for a look, it's actually a half assed recipe of mine!

I can't cook but I can make salads! No burners required. Most of the time...

Salads rock because you just throw a bunch of crap together and VOILA! Tasty town!

Okay that was lame...

So when I was little and could make KD I would go through my mom's spice cupboard (yes, we had an entire cupboard of spices, not including the spice rack on the wall and the one inside the pantry) and I would stick the cheese powder in a bowl and raid the cupboards and toss in around 5 or 6 different spices that smelled good and in the end after the noodles were done and I mixed my lil mess, it came out tasting like pizza! PIZZA KRAFT DINNER! Greatest accident ever.

That's kind of how I come to making stuff now. Mix stuff together, hope for the best.

Chick Pea salad is pretty fool proof. Even my parents ate it and went back for seconds and then later told me they hated chick peas but liked the salad so WIN!

Crap to use:

1 Can drained and rinsed Chick Peas (Garbanzo beans)
1 Can drained and rinsed mixed bean mix
1 Can Corn drained
Half a Leek for it's oniony goodness taste and crunch
Half a Cucumber, cuz who doesn't like cucumber?
Some Cherry Tomatoes chopped in half if they are on sale, which they weren't so they aren't making an appearance today but I'm including them in the list cuz that's how I roll
Lemon Juice
Lime Juice
Avocado Oil (or any oil, I just heard avocado oil is like the holy grail healthy skin oil and we kinda stockpiled the stuff when we found it at Winners)
Calorie Wise Italian Dressing if you want
Seasoning Salt, or some kinda fancy schmancy salt, for added uhmm saltiness.
Hot Sauce
Freeze Dried Salad mix stuff (pic included)

Okay so that list looks massive, but I rambled a ton so here's a pic with the gist of it:

STEP 1:
Drain the chick peas, mixed beans and corn and rinse the crud off. Toss in a big ass bowl and swear at yourself because the bowl looks too small.

STEP DOS:
Cut up half a leek and half a cucumber. I like super thin slices to get a bit of everything in a bite and not just a mouthful of onion taste. That's what the leek tastes like. Oniony fresh. Depending on my mood, I also switch out the leek and use green onions instead. I wanted crunchy so the leek was used today.

STEP MISSING:
Cut 10ish cherry tomatoes in half and plop right in. It's step missing cuz I didn't do that today, but do it if you can. It makes the dish extra colourful and pretty.

STEP ELEBENTY:
Get juicy and stuff. I don't actually measure anything so now comes the bigger guessing part.
For the lemon juice and the lime juice, it seems I just slosh the bottle over the bowl about 7 times each.
The Avocado oil looked about 1 tablespoon drizzled on top.
Italian dressing was about 8 quick shakes or less. I use the calorie wise stuff because I want to put avocado oil in and don't need that extra oilyness the full fat italian dressing has. Or just skip it altogether, WHATEVZ YO!
The hot sauce is guess drizzled around also. I like the Jim Beam Original Hot Sauce. It's a bitch to find and I only seem to find it every 3 years so the last time I saw it in Winners, I grabbed ALL 9 BOTTLES! Tis nummers I say.

Sprinkle some salt on it! SALT!

Mix it alllll up and take a look:

It still lacked something (damn pricey ass tomatoes) so I grabbed a bottle of this freeze dried salad seasoning blend stuff:

I love this stuff. It's dried green onion, red onion, garlic and white onion I think. It's found in the produce section. This stuff rocks when you stick it in a tub of cottage cheese and let it hydrate. Mmmmm oniony.

There, that added some more greeny bits :)

And there you have it. HEALTHY STUFF!

PINK EYE!

Possibly. And not the sweet kinda pink eye that comes to mind when you look at a makeup blog. I'm talking the ugly ass 28 Weeks Later looking zombie eye crap.

Sunday I did nothing, if you recall in my ABC's post. I decided reading vampires and witches was more productive to my brain so I hid out at home, skipped makeup and did nothing. Then I wake up Monday and my DAMN EYE IS RED! I'm not even gonna post a picture or you'll throw up and never come back.

So being from Alberta originally, I moved here to Manitoba 3 years ago but haven't had a chance to get my Manitoba Health Care Card. In Canadaland you need your health card or you have to pay. I was expecting around $40 because in Calgary I paid $37.50 for my visit when I had a lovely asthma attack.

Not in Manitoba baybee! They wanted $50. Uhhh we make like half of what Albertan's make and they want to charge us more to see a doctor? Plus my boss wanted a doctors note so I get paid for yesterday. It was a holiday. If you are sick before or after a long weekend they don't have to pay you. If my eye got messed up next week I could have just called in sick. But nooooooo I need that bastard $20 sick note.

So I'm wearing my big dark sunglasses, pissed off the clinic wants $70 total CASH because I don't have my Health card and need that note, so my luverly mister took us to get our Health cards. See he's bad too! He didn't get his either. So 1.5hrs later we get our cards and then I have to hit up a clinic again.

It was packed but I managed to get in in like 10 minutes. Maybe they thought I was going to spread it around hahaha. Doc gave me prescription for steroid eye drops and I get my Dr's note and it was only $5! FIVE BUCKS YO! Why that other place wanted $20 I have no freakin clue.

Got my prescription and the pharmacist says they could actually make my eye WORSE! The steroids could just mask the problem and I'm to stop taking them if my eye gets worse. I have to see the Doc again Friday.

So long story short, I'm not wearing any makeup this week. I has a sad. And a zombie eye.

Now go look at some actually pretty pink eye stuff over here.

Back on my dirty lookin' kick I got going on right now (oh kill me, I typed "write now" just then) yellow was the next shade I wanted to muddy up. Something tells me pink would also look pretty kick assy with the grey and yellow...

I know, I'm not very creative using the same combo and just switching the lid colour, but it's working so sweet right now! That and I'm not totally creative to begin with so if I find something that works, I'm riding that wave baybeee! :D

If I have enough time in the mornings, Satin Laces, Dollipop and Dinosaur Plushie are going to be my next 3 victims with the Willow/Buttercupcake combo. There hasn't been much updating lately because I have to take the bus bright and early and now that my hair is different, it doesn't fit into an elastic so I'll probably be fussing with it everyday, losing MORE time. Oh goody!

The other time eater is my Kindle. I can't help it. The dude gets ignored for hours as I wait to see how Rachel Morgan handles a vampire for a roomate and having damn near everyone wanting the poor witch dead.

My face looks a bit lighter than my neck but it's actually the other way around. The flash reacted to the finishing powder I think. I went to MAC again to try to get matched. The 1st time I went, the girl told me NW20, but I didn't like how thick the formula was (studio sculpt) so I went to another MAC and that girl matching me with NC15 Studio Fix. It was right for some parts of my face, mostly my lower cheek bones but my neck doesn't match my face in shade so I ended up looking too pale and masklike.

It's funny, they say to find your skintone (warm or cool) to see what colour your veins show, blue is cool, green is warm. But my wrist has a blue line in the middle with the ones on either side of it showing more green. You can see how I can't figure this out! I'm dutch, which you probably expect fair skin, blonde hair blue eyes, definitely cool tones (like all my aunts and most of my cousins.) But I'm half native, dark hair, brown eyes, gotta be warm? Not this chick. Even my birthmark doesn't know what race I am, my arm is 2 splotchy shades, with blonde hairs sprouting up from the pale bits and brown hair on the darker skin lol. My mom didn't blend me well enough I guess :D

Back to foundation woes...

The 3rd try I told the girl I didn't want a shade to match my face, but to match my neck and I think I just about have my match now, NC25. I think to get it more right I should mix it with NC15 (NC20 looked too beige, not golden enough). For right now, this bottle will do. My Meow order came in the mail and I have to mix 2 of those but I can't remember if I did 2 parts dark to 1 part light, or the other way around. 50/50 didn't work last time.

O Hai there!

I haven't updated since the 2nd cuz I had to be all lame and shit and take holidays. I wore makeup during them but didn't take pictures. They were mostly safe looks, combo's I've remembered I liked so ya didn't miss anything! Score!

This look turned out kinda cool but I wanna re-do it with silver/grey as the main lid, or a muddy yellow. I'll probably try both just to see which one looks the bestestest. My money's on the yellow. Yellow rocks.

I felt like some greys today so I pulled out my Halloween Kiss My Sass shades and went to work!

I hate crap touching my face so I usually chose to not see things in the distance and skip the glasses, but these are starting to lose their effectiveness. I think that just means my eyes are getting worse.

Just when I think I'm getting better I pop in my memory card, crop and blow up pics and voila! Messy blending, uneven lines, and some skipping in the dark shadows where the primer holds on too much and refuses to budge.

I was waiting at the bus last week and was on a 2 person seat, this woman comes in the shelter, plops her stuff on the empty seat and STANDS IN FRONT OF ME! What!?!

I was trying to read American Psycho but couldn't pay attention because her damn ass was right in front of my face, and she did that loud throat clearing thing that people do instead of just coughing, because you know throat clearing every 30 seconds is way more effective than just coughing once.

There's my weekend ramble. People who invade personal space suck. Like sitting in a dirty shelter didn't feel uncomfortable enough!

Oh well, now that that's out of my system, here's a look I did yesterday.

I was trying to recreate a look Pixiwoo did back in January. I didn't have her colours so I used what I did have. SUGARPILL!! And Wet n Wild. OooO You thought it was going to be an inexpensive look ehhh? Nahh, I dug out some Burberry for the higlight because it's a perfect nude. I've even made a bit of an indent on it, marring it's beautiful plaid surface :( I can't remember the last time I indented a shadow!

Time for some Mindy rambles.

I'm crazy addicted to the internet so it kind of surprised me that a book series was able to make me forget to even log on for 24 hrs. It surprised me even more that I was able to read all 3 in less than a week along with a book from another series. I can't remember the last time I read 4 books in a week other than the 1st 4 Harry Potters back when I was a teen.

The awesome series I'm talking about is The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. In the bookstore I've seen these sitting on the shelf but I'm one of those jerkfaces that totally judges a book by the cover and I figured it was going to be some book centered around some teenage boy fighting junk, and never bothered to read the back info.

Then back in September Ms Awesome Grey recommended the series and I was curious but still didn't pick it up. In Chapters they have all 3 in a box set and if I was going to get them, I need the box set, because it just wouldn't be complete without the other 2 and it was cheaper. But the price still threw me off. I know it was for 3 hardcovers but I probably grabbed the new cosmo UK instead. The Twilight box set pretty much ruined box-sets for me. Waste of hard earned dinero. I refuse to watch the movies because books are supposed to be BETTER than the movies...

BACK TO TOPIC!

Then FINALLY my friend bought book 1 and read it and was so excited about it and let me borrow it, and I thought, great! If I hate it, I didn't waste a dime and don't have to force myself through the others.

Well, I COULDN'T GET ENOUGH! Seriously! After I finished the Hunger Games I had to grab Catching Fire and Mockingjay asap. I even brought my laptop to work to read on my breaks and it was like I was doped up wanting to get my next fix come breaktime. I got pissed off when I was waiting for my ride after work that day, because it started raining, so that meant no reading till hometime!

This series was done so well, I was really upset when I finished the 3rd. Even more so than I was when Harry Potter ended, because when Harry Potter ended I was able to get over it in probably an hour, it had a good long run. I was able to eat dinner that night because I got over it. I was able to sleep a good 8 hrs because I got over it.

Not with The Hunger Games! I finished the book 2 days ago and I'm finally coming back to reality and trying not to be so down. Everytime I get annoyed with how it wrapped up and how fast it seemed to, I have to remind myself, it's just a book. It's FICTION! YOUNG ADULT FICTION! The main character Katniss has to go through so much and you really do feel for her. When she's starving, thirsty, angry or lost, it's described so well, it's like you're there with her. That's probably also why I got so upset. For those few days I was doing nothing but reading, it felt so real.

I would have liked a bit longer of an ending, like I said it wrapped up crazy fast and at first I hated the epilogue

POSSIBLE SPOILER! But I won't give details! Gotta have a bit of a rant, or it's just not me typing this...

The epilogue, I do not like ones that take place years after the story. It just means definite ending. I didn't like the end of Harry Potter (WHY DO I KEEP GOING BACK TO POTTER!?) I didn't like the end of Six Feet Under.
If there wasn't a future time epilogue, you can still have that bit of hope that another event will happen, another story can be told.

But then when I spent a few hrs skimming through all 3 books again, I know why the author did it. I don't know how I missed it the first time! I must have really blown through to miss key friggin thoughts.

So anywhosies I'm less moody on that aspect. Stories don't always have to be decades long to be satisfying.

But I gotta say, I wasn't 100% satisfied at the end, even coming to terms with the epilogue. The chapter right before that (the last chapter I guess) was what really made me want more. It was done so quick, a lot of time went by, you didn't really get to see the characters build themselves up again, sure you got little tidbits, but I wanted more detail. More key moments. Something to do with "the last gift". (There's me trying to be all secretive without blowing info lol)

One reviewer said the ending was "bittersweet but with more bitter than sweet" and I think he summed that up pretty well! But once again, I gotta stop getting so damn emotional. Real or not real?

Not real, dammit! Get over it, me!

When that movie comes out, it's going to be like opening new wounds.
This (UBER SPOLIER! Don't click unless you've read it all!) entry here explains the ending much better, tries to find reason in it. Still makes me sad. And I've just spent the last hour reading through 2 sites to find more meanings to the story. I'm slow, I need this stuff pointed out to me :D

Yep, I'm kind of a dork.

I'm pretty sure the next 20 books I read now are going to be shit compared to this series. Suzanne has ruined reading for me. I has a sad :(

For sure I will be grabbing the box set of these books now, especially before the "now a motion picture" stamp gets plopped onto it. I prefer originals. The reason why I bought the Twilight box set, I didn't want the movie poster cover, just incase it ended up being a good series. Now with that set I wish I had a chance to borrow the 1st from a friend...

Annabelle Cosmetics Day Dream Spring 2011

I found a wicked bright surprise in my drugstore today. Annabelle released their Day Dream Spring collection. In it was 4 eyeshadows, 2 lipglosses and I saw 2 glitter liners and there were a couple of other things but I got sidetracked swatching the testers in the display!

First impression? I am in LUURRRVVEEE DUDE!

These are BRIGHT! And MATTE! And awesomely PIGMENTED! And just $4.99 ea! I have other Annabelle mono's but these 4 are my favs so far, they seem more pigmented than last year's spring collection (there was a pink, teal, cream and can't remember the 4th)

The little pans are the exact size as MAC pro pan refills. You can put these in a MAC palette but you will need to buy a strip of magnet to cut and stick to the back of the pans. Annabelle has a empty quad they sell and the palette is magnetised so no extra work is needed there. I only had 3 spaces left in my MAC palette so these new bad boys got to find a home in the empty Annabelle quad I bought on sale last year, so it now feels less lonely being filled :D

The shades I picked up are: Reverie (bright blue), Airhead (purple), Dayglow (bright acid yellow), Dollywood (pretty pink)

MAC Quite Cute Lipsticks

Aren't they friggin adorable? Or... cute? ha.ha.ha. clever me.

After seeing Temptalia's swatches of MAC's Quite Cute collection I decided I wanted all the lipsticks and 2 of the blushes. But since I was trying to pay off the card of all that is evil and this was supposed to be my only online purchase this month I decided not to get a 2nd blush or Playing Koi. I already knew the 2 lighter colours could look goofy on me and that Playing Koi would look the worst of the worst. My mister hates nude lips. He says it looks like "whore mouth" and while I usually don't give a shit on his opinion on what I wear, I have to admit, I kind of agree on whore mouth. But not the pretty, natural nude lips that Nea is often on the lookout for (although she made PK work by layering a gloss on top and lining like a pro), but the almost white, foundation looking, in your face whore mouths. Brown liner usually tops the look just perfectly... With my darker medium complexion, whore mouth is the result I would have gotten. So adieu Playing Koi, I'll try not to miss you too hard.

Seeing as Saint Germain is the only lippie available right now I guess this is more of a colour reference for blog sales, swaps, etc.

Candy Yum Yum is a stainer. I swatched it on my hand in the store after I placed my order online and the pink mark stuck around for a few days. And I wash my hands more than any sane person usually does so I knew it would stain my lips as well.

And I saw some people question if Quite Cute was close to Fashion Mews.

Not at all other than it's purple.

And just for the hell of it, here's Play Time taken next to Courting Lilac. No swatchy here, I just liked that my camera is so sweet on closeups :D

And here's Giggly, but no swatch yet. Just know I LOVE IT! I've worn it 4 times in a row already. I never wear the same damn blush 4 days in a row. This picture kind of sucks but now it looks all used, so it's either slightly blurry shot, or used powdery shot and I chose clean and blurrytastic.

Does this font annoy anyone? I wanted a change and it was the least annoying of the fancier fonts but I don't know if I like it, or if it hurts people's eyes reading it.
