More Suds N Sass Swatches

So behind! I realized I never did swatch my Suds N Sass Halloween kit when I got it last fall. It sold out pretty fast but something went wrong and Elizabeth had an extra kit for sale announced on Twitter and I jumped on that!

It came in a cute little pumpkin with a halloween thank you card and a pink ticket. You can learn more about pink tickets HERE I think they are an awesome idea, and yup I'm completely biased because my ticket won a $25 gift card :D

So today I swatched that order and my most recent one because lucky for you guys, the eyeshadows and glitters in the Halloween kit AND Autumn kit are still available!

I don't have the Aumtumn kit but I think the shades in that were: Summers End Hayride and Fall Harvest with the pixie dust being Sparkling Cider which I grabbed and swatched today.
Luna swatched both kits here along with the glosses. Only Poisoned Apple looks like it's still available.

The halloween kit was: Cemetery Gates Dead of Night and Sleepy Hollow with the pixie dust being Lucky 13. Out of the 2 glosses in the kit, Hocus Pocus is still available and it is BEAUTIFUL!

Snowflake, Disco Fever, Fireflies
Sparkling Cider, Lucky 13 (all glitters on Pixie Epoxy)
Sleepy Hollow, Dead of Night, Cemetery Gates (on TSFI)

Hocus Pocus

The 1st row of glitter and the golden one were from my second order I placed to use my $25 gift code.

Along with those I bought 6 roll-on perfumes $5ea:

Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream
Forest Of No Return (She game me mini soaps with 1st order that smelled like this!)
Cuddly Blue Poodle
Sugar Plum Fairy
America Rocks
Rock Candy

First of all I am SO HAPPY she has these awesome Lush dupe fragrances (American Dream is American Cream and Rock Candy is Rock Star) because it's such a pain in the ass to only be able to get Rock Star in soap form from Lush and American Cream solid perfume isn't sold anymore.

Last but not least, the interference lip Glaze in Los Angeles!

You know I'm a sucker for that green sheen in ANYTHING so this is one of my favourite lip products ever. It lets the pink of your natural lips show but covers them in a lovely greeny yellow shimmer that is AWESOME!

After this one I do want to try the others especially:
Bachelorette
Blue Velvet
Filthy Rich
Glamorous
London
Miami
Paris
Strut Your Stuff
Trophy Wife
Basically all the ones that look white but ARE UBER AWESOME!

Given the Brush Off

Makeup brushes are things I tend to aquire over loads of time. I'm not a brush junkie like I am an eyeshadow junkie. I would much rather buy 4+ eyeshadows than just 1 brush! So while I do have a bunch of brushes, I only use maybe half of them, and on a daily basis, maybe 6 or 7. A huge majority I didn't even purchase myself, they were either presents or in a kit from buying something else.

I only wash my brushes with brush cleanser or brush shampoo. I've heard many different ways of washing them but I'm too worried of wrecking them and having the bristles fall out. I am way too cheap to buy new brushes and I think an $8 (if I remember right) investment in the right shampoo is nothing compared to the cost of replacing these bad boys.

The 2 I use are Quo Purifying Brush Shampoo ($8 I think) and Clinique's Brush Cleanser ($13US)

It only looks like I used the Clinque one more because I bought that bottle first after my brother bought me my very first set of brushes! I blame him for wanting more of them! :)

Out of all of them I only have a few that were pricey. The rest are either ecotools or random ones I've picked up here and there.

The goods!

The Clinique group was from bro #1, the MAC from Magic and Mischeif collection from bro #2. 3 ecotools in center of other ecotools from Becca of awesomeness.

The brushes that are always in my train case:

L-R Clinique Powder, MAC 187SE, ecotools Face powder brush (below skunk brush), ecotools Blush, Clinique Eye Shader, ecotools flat Eyeshadow, Avon Ergonomic Eyeshadow, 4 various ecotools eyeshadow brushes (don't know exact names), Sonia Kashuk fluffy crease, ecotools eyelash comb thingy :), Physicians Formula gel liner, Quo Eyeliner, ecotools mini detail.

The face brushes:

The Clinique eye shader brush is what I use for my undereyes with my Aromaleigh Nectarine Coquille powder. It's fluffy and super soft so it doesn't irritate the skin.
The ecotools lg flat brush there is my favourite for wiping my finishing powders on. It's also crazy soft and the shape of it gets into every nook easily.
The Clinique Powder blush used to be used with my finishing powders but I now use it to fluff away any sparkle fall out.
MAC 187SE is used with my mineral blush because they are so pigmented and this gives me better control. I love the white ends that show just how much is on the brush. I also use it to lightly apply my cheek highlighters when I feel like it.
The ecotools blush brush is just that.
The Quo eyeliner brush is actually used as my eyebrow brush. So far I am very disappointed in all my quo brushes which is why this one got demoted to eyebrows. The brushes tend to be coarse and just very wrong in shape. I bought an angled crease brush and it was completely useless. Too big. Too crappy!
And the last brush, I don't know how I destroyed the comb part but I didn't use that side anyways. I use the flexible bristle side to comb out my eyebrows after filling them in.
SO SOFT!

SO FLUFFEH!

Side view

my 5 fav eye brushes:

Avon ergonomic eyeshadow brush and ecotools flat eyeshadow brush.
The Avon one was the 1st brush I actually bought. The Clinique set had that shader brush but I wanted something smaller. The ergonomic one is very good. It's soft and can be used for the whole eye because you can turn it sideways to get the crease better. I really like this brush for pressed shadows

My favourite for my mineral shadows is my ecotools flat eyeshadow brush. It lets me kind of slap the pigments on my eyelid and because it's so flat, I have better control where I'm placing the colour.

My most used crease brushes are my Sonia Kashuk fluffy crease brush and my ecotools fluffy crease brush. They are almost the same so I'll either use one for colour and the other for dark if I haven't washed them in a bit. Or if I wanna cover more area I'd use the Sonia brush because it's a bit more fluffy where the ecotools one is a bit more compacted/stiff.

And right now my favourite eyeliner brush is the one that was in the kit for the Physicians Formula gel liner set. It's handle is TEENY TINY! The bristles are stiff enough to be able to draw a nice even thin line. I have loads of eyeliner brushes (click any of the pics to blow them up for more detail) but I'll only mention this bad boy because it's my right now fav, and I don't feel like taking any more pics today lol. It's hard! Half of them don't show up clear and even worse when the brush is to small! So my laziness only gets ya a half assed post :D

And for the brushes that tend to get ignored. Especially the foundation brushes. I used 1 at one point but didn't like how it made me look cakey so I've been afraid of them :( The MAC angled face brush would be used a lot more if it were softer. The bristles feel friggin weird and wirey.

I'll only turn to this pile if I need a brush and my others are too dirty to trust.

If you want closeups of a certain one in this post I didn't mention just let me know and I'll take more pictures.
I hope this was a bit informative at least :)

Mattes and brows

Hai!

I just keep getting more and more lazy when posting. I sometimes feel guilty for not posting then I remind myself I do this because I want to, not because I get paid for anything so I'm allowed to slack off yo! There are a few looks I want to post but first this one!

Recently I learned about eyebrow threading. I've heard about it before and saw a clip of a salon lady goin' at it and it just looked insane.

Then this wicked video was brought to my attention. Anyone who plucks their eyebrows NEEDS to watch this video. So much time can be saved by learning how to thread your own brows.
Basically you take a piece of string, knot it into a loop, twist it around a few times, place it on your face and scissor the away (nothing gets cut, it all gets plucked like usual)

One thing I've noticed, it hurts less when you do it late in the day. It hurts like hell in the morning probably because you're still waking up and you are ripping hairs out of your face. That's never a warm and fuzzy feeling.

That's about all the pain tips I tell you right now. It's only been a day :D

But I am way more confident in my EOTD pics, I don't have to crop so much eyebrow off because I got rid of most of the annoying little hairs that grow above my brows! I still have to work on removing the tiny ones above my eyelid. I get worried I'll accidentally take off important brow hairs!

Another thing I did today, I used a pigment to fill on the brows! Usually I use this Revlon brow grooming kit (middle shade) but I was curious what a pigment would look like and Phyrra and Blix always use some kick ass colours so I wanted to give it a go. The shade I used was Aromaleigh's Bougainvillea from the Carolina Summer Mattes collection. It's a reddish brown and I have a massive 10gr jar of it thanks to one of my super awesome readers (THANKS MARCEY! :)

On to my face! The lid shades were actually green but the camera made them look more grey. Oh well.

I used:
TFSI
Aromaleigh Carolina Summer mattes:
Lid: Verdigris
Crease: Palmetto
Browbone: Sand
Lower liner: UD Zero smudged.
Upper liner: Physicians Formula black sparkle gel stuff again.

And my face!

Read this and be disgusted

That is all :)

Sugarpill Lovin'

Back in whatever month Black Friday is in (meh, google too far) November probably, Sugarpill had a wicked ass sale, 30% off.

The sale was a complete surprise! That evening I set my alarm to wake me up at 1am because I wanted in on Morgana Cryptoria's lipstick sale but then I saw Amy (Sugarpill QUEEEEN) tweet her sale and I was ON THAT YO!

The website is GORGEOUS! Hop on over to check it out. The top right hand side holds your cart total which is handy because I tend to impulse shop and before I know it, my credit card just lost another $100 :s

I ended up grabbing:

Sweet Heart palette
Burning Heart Palette
Goldilux
Paperdoll
Darling
Decora
Lumi
Birthday Girl

As soon as I placed the order I remembered I was heading to my mom's for Christmas holidays and I didn't want to miss the post man so I emailed Amy to ask if she could please ship it to my mom's house, and she was sweet enough to do so :) The package ended up arriving 2 days before I had to come back to Winnipeg so I'm glad I asked, it would have bothered me to have to wait any longer! I WANT ME LUCKY CHARMS! I mean, shiny stuff. Charms are cool too.
Off topic, back on track!!!

The order arrived in a frikkin ADORABLE white box with a pretty blue kitteh on the front.

Inside was loads of awesome pink tissue paper and my lurvely order packed nice and neat. I also got 1 business card, 1 double sided photocard, 1 sample of Magentric and 2 glitter stickers! She gave me the Turquiose one also, even though I forgot to use the facebook special code to get it so that made me even more pleased!
There was a packing slip but I can't find that bugger. She wrote a thank you on it and I remember there being a cute sticker!

One thing I was worried about, is knowing the jars come without sifters.
Right now all my loose pigments, which take up probably 90% of my collection, all have tape to keep the lids from unwinding, even the siftered jars (minus the ones where I haven't pulled the sticker off the sifter yet)
I've seen some Sugarpills reviews and the jars mostly always seemed to have some spillage. Well something must have been done with those jars, or maybe I got really lucky because not a single jar came unscrewed even a little bit. There was no spillage anywhere. If you blow up the pic below you can see for yourself. The only reason Goldilux has a bit around the threading is because I gave my mom some.
I actually trust the jars so much I have them in my cart upside-down, name side up.

I bonked Paperdoll :(

That's what 25 grams plus another 5 grams of awesome looks like. I didn't use or spill any Lumi. It's still 5 grams of pigment.
The website says:

A crazy amount of detail has been put into every single part of the product and packaging. The boxes the Chromalusts come in are matte finish except where the graphic and "Sugarpill" is, that part is glossed over.

I couldn't get it to show up on a clear pic :(

Ingredients are listed on the back/bottom.

The lids of the jars have the logo painted on them, it's not a sticker.

Even the business card is seriously one of the cutest/BEST business cards I have seen. It also has a shiny finish. I'm going to have to find out a way to get a bunch of these to pass out. Friday I did a look (will post later) and 3 people complimented it! I never get that many random compliments! 1 guy asked if it was airbush. Silly boy. So if I go on a Sephora trip, I wanna be armed with Sugarpill cards to help spread the Gospel of the Sugar that is a Pill.

(I have 2 business cards and 2 photocards now, this is what the front and back look like)

What else.....

SIZES!

I've seen people gush over the size of the shadows but it was only when I actually had these in my hands, did I actually "get" it. HUGE!

MASSIVE!

HUGEMONGOUS!

Burning Heart Palette and Sweet Heart Palette

Sure I've seen people do the whole MAC comparison but I didn't really get it until I did it myself. So here's my attempt to make you get it :)

To sum it up without all the math, which I completely fail at, Sugarpill is the better deal. Especially since MAC changed pigment jar sizes and while Sugarpill is 5 grams of product $12US, MAC's new jar is 4.5 grams and costs $23.50CDN (can't find the US price but it's not cheap)

Singles, Sugarpill are 4 grams of product for $12US each (less if you go palette style) whereas MAC is 1.5 grams for $17.50CDN (our dollar is a tad lower than the US dollar, but knock off a couple of bucks for better comparison)

Sugarpill is the much better deal.

I know I've seen some say that $12 is too much but I know when I spend $12 on a jar of Chromalust, I'm getting a quality product that's unique in colour with crazy beautiful packaging and detail. I'm kind of surprised they aren't a bit more, Amy goes all out!
Even the Magentric sample is crazy labelled. The black name sticker that's on the bottom of the boxes is inside the little card so you know what colour it is. And PINK STAPLE! Not as in it's a staple for your collection (although it could be!) but the sample baggy is held in with a pink staple. So cute! I haven't popped my sample out yet, I'm just injoying it's cuteness for now.
And if people can drop $14 on not-so-creative junk (oh HAI Chameleon!) they should definitely be buying these instead!

Some were also hoping to see samples before committing to a full size jar.
I think A good idea would be to team up with a friend to split jars, or try to find someone sampling off their jars. I'm a makeup hoarder so don't look at me right now :D I only shared some Goldilux with my mom because she birthed me :D
I don't think Sugarpill should absolutely have to provide samples. (Don't beat me in the face for this!) I just think we get a bit spoiled having most indie companies provide sampling options. You won't see samples of MAC pigments unless you go into a store and have someone help you, but if you don't live near one you are SOL on that anyways unless you find someone sampling their jars. What's to stop a person from only ordering samples over and over and over, never grabbing that full jar. With the amount of time, work and detail, I don't see much profit happening if she were to provide these unless she were to charge more than the usual $1 we see elsewhere and we wouldn't see as much awesome. I could be wrong though, it's just my guess/opinion.
$12 IS WORTH IT!! If you have to live off Kraft Dinner and turn all the lights out for 2 months to get some, DOOOITTTT.

SWATCHING!
I made up a genius way of swatching! Someone probably already discovered this, but it just popped in my head before this review so for this morning while looking for a clean brush so I'm totally taking credit for it :D
Those shitty little useless sponge tip aplicators you get in compacts? WORK MAGIC! Q-tips suck for me but right now it's all about the sponge. My brushes were dirty and I didn't want to dip my fingers in the jar or reuse a brush 6 times. I don't know the shelf life of these pigments, so I want to keep them as sanitary as possible.

Birthday Girl looks a bit different than it looks in the jar. It wipes on darker.

Window light

Birthday girl has a matte finish loaded with pink sparkles
Paperdoll has a matte finish loaded with pinky purple sparkles
Darling is actually more green than the swatch shows. That's the hard part with turquise shades not behaving for the camera :(
Decora is pink with green sparkles (was hard to get them to show up!)
Goldilux really is the greatest gold in the world. I have many mannnnny golds but this one is now number one. Not only is it super metallic, it has GOLD SPARKLES!!
Lumi looks white but goes on a shimmery blue. I was hesitant about getting this one because I have a bunch on interference shades already but those are straight mica and those were more glowy looking where Lumi is more shimmery IN YO FACE-y :)
Lumi looks sweet over black, just look at it over my tatoo! shinyshinyshiny

I wont swatch the pressed singles because oodles of people have done so already including the swatching queen Temptalia here and here

You may notice the back of her palette looks different than mine. Amy listens to reviews and constructive critisism and she improved the palettes by labelling them with the colour names on the back :)

All in all, I LOVE everything I got. I'm begging my mister to allow me to place another order today because it's Sugarpills Birthday!!
20% off: birthday
I NEED Bulletproof to finish my pressed collection and I wanted to grab some more Chromalusts. Absinthe, I shall OWN YOUUUUU and your little friend Tipsy too.

Now go!
